LOOK

Proximity discovery for people who are in the same place.

Overview

Comparable applications establish who is nearby in general terms. LOOK addresses the more difficult question of the person present in the same room at the same moment. Devices discover one another over Bluetooth, so the product continues to function without network coverage, and interest that is not reciprocated is never disclosed.

Questions

Questions about LOOK

How does LOOK find people nearby?

Devices discover one another directly over Bluetooth, so discovery works in a building, on transport or anywhere without mobile coverage. A server is involved only for what cannot be done between two phones.

What happens if interest is not returned?

Nothing is shown to either party. Interest is disclosed only when it is mutual, which is the central design decision of the product.

Which platforms will LOOK support?

iOS first, with Android to follow.

What personal data does LOOK hold?

Sign-in is through Sign in with Apple, and no name, address or password is stored. Conversations are held on the devices, not on a server.
